We have gotten interested in boating, everything from canal boats on the canals by our home to sailboats to row boats. So we thought “why not try our hands at building a boat?” We found an open boat design from Hermit Cove Boats bases on a skin-on-frame technique. It includes the plywood layouts in a format we could load onto our Maslow CNC and cut from plywood. So we purchased some marine grade plywood and decided to go with “The Owl” boat. We started by cutting the boat parts from marine grade plywood.

This was when we noticed that the long horizontal cuts were not perfectly straight. Which is why we decided to develop a calibration script for the Maslow CNC. More on that in a bit.
