The New Year’s holidays were a bit busy this year with getting BaanRimNaam ready to live in so that Praew’s mother and cousin could live in BaanMae, so I haven’t had a chance to post any blog entries in the past week. So there is quite a bit to get caught up on over the next few days…

We’ve successfully moved into BaanRimNaam, and the most striking aspect is how well I sleep here. There are a number of possible reasons, including:

  • the windows have a slightly yellowish brown tinting. This was meant mostly as an experiment to soften the light coming in during the hot season, but may have the effect of blocking blue light stimulating melatonin production.
  • the sound of the insects and frogs and birds and even the occasional boat going by makes this feel like a vacation retreat.
  • the bedroom itself is so small that it has a cozy almost claustrophobic feel that feels like a warm and soft cave.
  • the wooden walls and natural colors just feel right. 🙂
Here is a picture from waking up in the morning. The picture doesn’t do the fresh feeling of waking up on the land much justice, but what can I say?

One of the most interesting aspects of moving in was getting the composting toilet ready. I’ll leave this for a separate post, though.
