Step one in building most kit airplanes appears to be building the rudder. This is the easiest part to build, not too big and not too complex.

But step zero is to inventory everything and layout the workspace…

We suspended the large pieces from the rafters to make space for building.

After that, the instructions were great, and there are a number of really good videos on YouTube showing the build (the Project 2 Aero one in particular is helpful).

First tests using primer (yes… we immediately put on high quality respiratory filter masks for painting after this picture was taken)
the leading edge of the rudder aluminum needs to be bent around a pipe to get the curve right
Laying out the frame
frame is now riveted
frame inside of skin
lots of Clecoing
More Clecos
A simple jig is used to level the rudder and eliminate twist before riveting
riveting mostly finished
mostly finished rudder (still need to remove the bend tags)
