While I designed the pump sheds around the pond out of polycarbonate because it is a lightweight, inexpensice, easy to source, weather proof and versatile material, I always intended to cover it in thatch (spelled จาก in Thai) for aesthetic reasons. After I saw the thatch roof on the chicken coop, I’ve been reminding the workers every once in a while to put thatch on the pump sheds.

And finally, we have thatch roofing on all of the pump sheds.

This is a northward facing view, so the west pump shed is on the left side, the skimmer is in the background middle right, with the east shed to the right of it and the chicken coop on the right edge of frame.

I’ve been exploring ways to tie bamboo together into a nice wall panel for the sides. Pictures of that once we’ve found a source for the bamboo and run some experiments with building the panels.
