I swung by the land on Wednesday after heavy rainfall for two days to see the pond “full” for the first time. I define a full pond by the water level reaching the overflow pipe. I had the overflow valve closed during the rains, so the water level is now up near the top of the pipe. So I opened the valve, and the water is flowing out now.
My concern now is that the stainless steel that we put over both ends of the pipe to keep rats and lizards out will result in too much reduction in the flow of water. So I’ll go back to see it tomorrow or the day after and make sure the water level is going down, otherwise I will pull the steel off of the end temporarily during the current set of rainstorms.
But seeing the pond full for the first time is a beautiful sight…
