In my previous post, I mentioned the really nice boutique hotel we stayed at in Chiang Mai for one night.

Since half of traveling for me is eating, I figure it is worth mentioning some of the very nice eateries we stopped off at.

First, we ate at a place called “Artisan” just a few minutes walk from our hotel, on the street front of the Oxotel hotel. It has a bare wood loft kind of decor:

We ate a really tasty smoked pork salad with a light Caesar dressing and an avocado veggie sandwich on a sesame bagel:

(Sorry, no picture of the salad.)

The food was amazingly good. They also had pasta that I’d love to go back and try next time I’m in the area.

Afterwards, we went for a long walk (I have to do my 10k steps per day) to Tha Phae Gate where we stopped off at Raming Tea House nearby. We had a break from the walking along with tea and a few slices of their Lapis Herb Cake.

The cake was quite unique. We aren’t sure what flavored the cake, but my guess is lime, lemon grass, and bael fruit. (Praew didn’t agree, but she offered no alternatives.)

Like our hotel stay for the night, the tea shop had a nice colonial garden style.

After returning for dinner (see the previous post for a description of dinner), we went out for dessert at Juice Street, where we shared a “Mango Bomb”. I must admit it was interesting. It had mango pieces, mango juice, mango ice cream, and little balls of what I call “mango caviar”. (These are little balls with an intense mango juice inside that kinda pop in your mouth like caviar.) Worth a try. Big enough for two.
