The rainy season has passed and we are now into the dry season. It rained only once that I am aware of in the last few weeks and that was a very light rain.

I have been monitoring the level of the water every week or two and it went up to about 48cm below the top of the regeneration zone wall. But now that the weather has really dried out the level has been slowly dropping. Today I measured the level again:

The level is now only 54cm from the top of the wall, so we’ve lost about 7 cm of water from the peak.

I don’t know how much of that is evaporation and how much (if any) is percolation through the soil. But I guess it is all evaporation. (The water level is pretty close to the canal water level near by, so I doubt there is much of a pressure differential for the water to go one way or the other through the soil.) I wonder how much more I will lose before the next rainy season.
