Beginning the flooring of BaanLoiNaam

I just thought I would post a quick picture of the floor beginning to be installed on BaanLoiNaam. We can walk around under the roof now. 🙂 The fiber cement board installed in the center is the only “interior” of the small floating house. The rest is either outdoor bathroom or balcony, which will use…

BaanLoiNaam: The roof is on the house

The workers mounted the roof on the house on Wednesday. As with the other two houses, once the foundation was done, the structure and roof went up in almost no time at all. Now we just need a floor and walls and it will be a house.

BaanLoiNaam: It is starting to look like a house

I checked up on the progress of BaanLoiNaam today. The steel structure of the roof appears to be complete now. Tomorrow, the metal roofing material will arrive, and the workers think it will take only a day to install. Then onto the walls…

BaanRimNaam update: structure going up quickly now

We finished the floor structure in the last few days, and today they started welding the actual building structure. Things are moving quickly now, and the hope is to be installing the roofing on Tuesday. Then it will begin to really look like a floating house. 🙂

BaanLoiNaam: Structure of the floor in place

I took this picture today of the progress of welding of the floor: The smaller cross beams are mostly in place to support the fiber cement board flooring.

BaanLoiNaam update: The “foundation” is complete

With the 5 pontoons completed and in the water, the next step was to assemble the frame to hold them together. The only difficulty for us here is the lack of a crane. If we had a crane of some sort, we might have built the floor frame on land and hoisted it onto the…

BaanLoiNaam update: Final pontoon is completed!

Over the past few days, the welders were pressure testing the last pontoon. Having held up pressure nicely since Monday, they floated it today. That makes 5 out of 5 required pontoons for BaanLoiNaam. Now we are ready to begin building the structure on top of the pontoons. Yay!

Second pontoon launched

I was out of town, but I received these photos of the launch of the second pontoon: So we now have two of 5 pontoons completed and floating.

First BaanLoiNaam pontoon now deployed

Earlier in the week, we were able to lower the first BaanLoiNaam pontoon into the pond and float it. It was a bit of a process, but worked out pretty well. First, we had to make sure that we will be able to mount the pontoon onto the frame after it is all in the…

BaanLoiNaam: Pontoon 1 tested and ready to float

I’m pretty excited about the progress on the first pontoon. We’ve done two rounds of pressure testing, and fixed all the holes, and it was able to hold air pressure for several days without any noticeable drop in pressure. (Keeping in mind that the pressure goes down with the temperature at night and up…
