We have begun transplanting native water plants that are growing naturally around our land into the sand in the biofilter area of the pond:
I figure we will do this as a slow process over time. The water level should rise now that the (relatively) dry season is mostly past. So as the sand becomes damp from the rising water level, we will keep planting into the newly damp parts of the sand. Any plants that die after transplanting can be removed and replanted.
Praew is also planning on supplementing the 5 or 6 species of water plants that we have around our land (or on neighbor’s land) with a few more species of aesthetically pleasing water plants that can be bought at nearby plant markets.
Hopefully the sand filtration area will begin to look more like that over the next few months.
