We had a new visitor on our land today…

A cat!

Keep in mind that a pack of about 4 dogs sleep directly below where this cat was hanging out. So we were a little afraid for the cat’s life. But based on how skinny he is, I think it was desperation and a risk of starvation that caused him to brave the dogs. But the reason he was hanging out on top of this box was probably that it was the safest spot out of the dogs’ reach.

There was a cat that looked almost identical to this one that the workers adopted a while back. It slept in with the workers. During the day, it was pretty safe around the worker’s house because the dogs didn’t go back there. But sometimes at night it would go roaming and stray into the dog’s hang out areas on our land. Eventually, the dogs killed it. It was quite tragic.

This one looks so similar and is probably the same age, leading to the reasonable probability that he is a sibling. Unfortunately, he is risking the same fate.

We really don’t know where these cats came from. (Nor all of the dogs, for that matter.)

He is really sweet, though. He immediately started mewling for attention and seemed to love having his head scratched and ears rubbed. So I scrounged up some food and he ate voraciously. Unfortunately, that probably means he is going to come back next time he is starving.
