We are going back and forth between BaanMae and our old house but we aren’t bringing our dogs with us. This is mostly because we don’t have a place to keep them in at night (or during the day for that matter). One of our bigger concerns is fights between our household dogs and the pack of dogs that have adopted us on the construction site.

So we’ve decided to build a very lightweight fence around BaanMae to have a space to keep dogs in and keep the two packs separated when we aren’t keeping a close eye on them.

How lightweight can a fence be and still control the dogs? I don’t know.

As usual, my approach is to build a prototype and test it. So we built one meter of 1.2m high very light fence out of 3/4 inch square metal cross beams at top and bottom and 6mm rebar for the rest. Then we temporarily set it up in our front yard at home as a section of the main gate. See the picture above.

It seems to have been successful for at least one night. Maybe we’ll give it a few more nights before deciding that the dogs can’t jump over or slip through. But so far so good.
