A lot of water rained down on the land over the last week. Sometimes in torrents. The pond is nearly full now. But the rain has help us to identify the parts of the land that need better drainage. The back of BaanMae seems to become a giant puddle sometimes, and we noticed some of the leaves on the new trees starting to turn brown due to too much water.
So we dug a hole and dropped a cement box in, punched a few small holes in the box and dropped a sump pump in to help drain the water out.

The water is pumped out to a nearby canal, which went quickly enough. But what is most interesting to me is that the water keeps filling back up and pumping out for several days after the rain. It seems like the ground water level is within a few centimeters of the soil surface.

Here is a picture back a little to see it:

This picture was taken about a day after the last rain. The sump pump would pump the water into the canal in a few seconds and automatically shut off when the water level drops close to the bottom and then wait about 20 minutes for the box to fill up again with water only to repeat. After about a day, it was still filling up to about the level in that last picture.
