The odd balcony storage areas in BaanLoiNaam have been completed.

On the near side is where the bed can slide out from inside the house when not in use. But we added a hinged door with a lift support strut to keep it open when we need to clean out this area. (Our bed is staying here, so we don’t want dust and mold to collect there.)

The team built into the door a cool retractable handle:

Here is a view from inside where the bed will slide out through the wall:

On the far side of this is another storage area:

This one also has a retractable handle:

The real reason for this second storage area is that if you are stepping down from the first one and trip, I’d rather trip after I turn the corner so I can fall onto more balcony than trip over the edge of the balcony into the pond.

But once I decided to extend this storage space, there are many uses that immediately spring up. The one we settled on is a place to store the batteries for the solar system. Keep in mind that this house will be completely off-grid, so we may go for extra batteries eventually, too.
